 John Locke (1632-1704) was a major English philosopher, whose political writings in particular helped pave the way for the French and American revolutions. He coined the phrase ‘pursuit of happiness,’ in his book An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, and thus this website is deeply indebted to him. Thomas Jefferson took the phrase “pursuit of happiness” from Locke and incorporated it into his famous statement of a peoples’ inalienable right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” in the Declaration of Independence. What most people don’t know, however, is that Locke’s concept of happiness was majorly influenced by the Greek philosophers, Aristotle and Epicurus in particular. Far from simply equating “happiness” with “pleasure,” “property,” or the satisfaction of desire, Locke distinguishes between “imaginary” happiness and “true happiness.” Thus, in the passage where he coins the phrase “pursuit of happiness,” Locke writes: “The necessity of pursuing happiness [is] the foundation of liberty. [Rom 8:16] Because we are his offspring, we qualify to be his heirs, God himself is our portion, we co-inherit with Christ. Rom 8:17.) 4:7 Can you see how foolish it would be for a son to continue to live his life with a slave mentality? Your sonship qualifies you to immediately participate in all the wealth of God’s inheritance which is yours because of Christ. (Legalism in its every disguise contradicts sonship. Sonship is not for sale.) 4:8 What really amazes me is how gullible you Gentile believers are to get yourselves all tangled up again in oppressive Jewish rites. I mean you know all about your BC days of slavery to imaginary gods under your pagan beliefs. 4:9 In the meantime, you have come to know the real God; [quite unlike the god of your imagination] what is most significant however, is to discover that he knew you all along. After all, how could you possibly feel attracted again to the pathetic principles of religious deception? It does not matter in what disguise legalism comes, whether pagan or Jewish, it brings the same bondage. 4:10 All of a sudden there are special days, months, seasonal, and annual festivities that are scrupulously celebrated; this is nothing more than superstitious religious sentiment. 4:11 I am alarmed that all my passion seems wasted on you. 4:12 I urge you to imitate me [in my conviction about the fact that Jewish customs and their shadow-sentiments are out-dated.]. We are exactly in the same boat, it is really not about me; it is about you. (Our Jewish or Gentile background makes absolutely no difference. Its association with the law of Moses mirrors Jerusalem as the capital of Jewish legalism. Hagar is the mother of the law of works. [DIY-religion] (See Gal 3:7 The conclusion is clear; faith and not flesh relates us to Abraham. [Grace rather than law is our true lineage. Ishmael represents so much more than the Muslim religion. Ishmael represents the clumsy effort of the flesh to compete with faith; the preaching of a mixed message of law and grace.]) 4:26 But the mother from above, the true mother of mankind is grace, the free Jerusalem; she is the mother of the promise. 4:27 For it is written, “Rejoice, Oh childless one. Erupt in jubilee. For though you have never known travail before, your children will greatly outnumber her who was married." (Married to the law; Isaiah 54:1; see also Rom 7:1-6.) 4:28 We resemble Isaac: we are begotten of faith; the promise is our parent. 4:29 Just as when the flesh child persecuted the faith child, so now these Jerusalem Jews in their Christian disguise seek to harass you; 4:30 however, Scripture is clear: “Expel the slave mother and her son; the slave son cannot inherit with the free son.” (In exactly the same way, rid your minds radically from the slave mother and child mentality. I'm excited to share how God revealed his son's presence and love in my life, and by extension, in all our lives. Confidence. It's as delicate as fine china and just as easily broken. Yet it's as vital to us as the air we breathe. When our confidence wavers, it can feel as if we're adrift in a sea with no sight of land. I'm sure many of you can relate. It's that sensation of the stable ground you've been treading on suddenly giving way beneath you. It's a precious treasure, so easily shattered yet capable of being mended by a master craftsman. However, it's a journey, not a pit stop. There's no magic wand to wave, no instant cure. We all have those moments, those areas in our lives, where our confidence takes a hit, where we stumble and fall. It could be a volatile market, a health scare, a family crisis – things that come out of the blue and knock the wind out of us. But let me reassure you, rebuilding that confidence, regaining that footing, is achievable. It takes intention, it takes practical steps, and yes, it takes time. I'd like to let you in on a conversation I had with the Lord, a dialogue that helped guide me back onto the path of confidence and hope. Let's start with the most crucial tool, the one I'll describe in this podcast. Then, I'll share a moment in my life where this tool made all the difference. Ready? Let's get started.  the Linen Cloths...The presence of the linen cloths and face-cloth are highly emphasized in defenses of the resurrection of Jesus; it is the reason Peter and John saw and believed Jesus was raised from the dead even though they had not yet understood how the Scriptures had spoken of it (John 20:8). We must keep in mind that a Roman guard was present at the tomb (Matthew 27:64-66); if Jesus’ body had been stolen away from the tomb, it would make no sense to unwrap all the linen cloths and the face-cloth, roll up the face-cloth, and then run away with the body; every additional second of the heist would increase the odds of being seen and/or captured in the act. Grave robbers would just take the body with the linen cloths to their lair and then take it all apart. Even if the story the soldiers said after being paid off to say it had any truth, that the disciples stole the body while they slept (Matthew 28:11-15), it would make no sense for them to leave the linen cloths; how long would it have taken before some of the Roman soldiers would wake up (as if they would ever be caught sleeping, the punishment for which was normally death!)? The best explanation for the presence of the linen cloths is that the One wrapped in it took them off and carefully rolled up the face-cloth and set it aside as He departed. The linen cloths and the face-cloth do provide a wonderful testimony to the resurrection of Jesus! Thus Jesus left the linen cloths and face-cloth as He departed the tomb in the resurrection. Did He just leave them to prove He is risen from the dead? Or is there perhaps greater meaning and significance to the linen cloths? Credit: Ethan R. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.”5 So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. 6 Soon every container was full to the brim“Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons.“There aren’t any more!” he told her. It powers us through the bumpy roads of life and helps us stay on course. But, just like the fuel in your car, it can run low and sometimes, it might even feel like you're running on empty. Ever felt your engine sputter at work? You know, when a project doesn't go as planned, or a boss gives you a tough review. It's as if someone just poured water in your fuel tank. You hesitate before taking on new roles, your work becomes a struggle, and the office doesn't feel like a second home anymore. Now, let's think about our social circles - parties, dinners, get-togethers. When you're low on confidence, it's like showing up to a dance floor with two left feet. The fear of judgment, past experiences, or just plain old social anxiety can make you want to stick to the wall instead of owning the floor. And you end up missing out on the joy of connecting with others, leaving you feeling alone in a crowd. And don't even get me started on personal setbacks. They're like those nasty potholes that appear out of nowhere. A bad breakup, a missed opportunity, or just negative thoughts can cause a jolt so severe that it shakes your belief in your own worth. But guess what, it's never the end of the road. Building confidence is like a constant journey, with its ups and downs, twists and turns. And the beautiful part is, you're the driver. You can stop for help, refuel, and get back on the road. Reach out to your pit crew - friends, mentors, professionals. Reflect on your journey, recognize your strengths, and celebrate your wins. So gear up, my friend. Refuel your confidence, and let's hit the road with renewed strength and faith. You've got this. Let's conquer those miles with resilience and assurance. Romans 1:17 the mirror, Herein lies the secret of the power of the Gospel; there is no good news in it until the righteousness of God is revealed. The dynamic of the gospel is the revelation of 1God’s faith as the only valid basis for our belief. The Prophets wrote in advance about the fact that God believes that righteousness reveals the life of our design. “Righteousness by his (God’s) faith defines life.” GRACE is speaking loudly to us here. Righteousness or in Right standing by His, God's faith defines life. its God's faith that lives on the inside of You. Not how much we flex the mustard seed of faith. The Good News shifts the emphasis away from our trying, our ta do list, failure and condemnation to highlight what it was that God accomplished in Jesus Christ on humanity’s behalf. Habakkuk 2:4, “The just shall live by his [God’s] faith.” God will go to any and all lengths to reveal to you and I, Every time we love, encounter joy, or experience beauty, a hint of the nature of our Maker reflects within us; We are Mirrored in Him. Romans 3:4 God’s word is not under threat. In fact, if all of mankind fails, truth remains intact. Truth is defined in God; it is neither challenged nor vindicated by human experience. Contradiction does not intimidate or diminish God’s belief. Scripture records that God stands justified in his own word; it confirms that God’s promise and purpose are not compromised through mankind’s failure; neither is God’s reputation threatened by our behavior. (Truth does not become true by popular vote. It is already as true as it gets because God believes it; it is from faith to faith, says Paul [Rom 1:17]; there is no gospel in it until the righteousness of God is revealed; “we can do nothing against the truth.” [See 2 Cor 13:5 and 8]. Our first familiar story is shared by our friend Mary of Mary and Martha. “Mary… sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said” (Luke 10:39, NIV). Let's take a moment to appreciate Mary's bold move. She plonks herself down "at the Lord's feet and listened to what he was saying" (Luke 10:39). Now, this might seem like just another pose, but wait! In the Jewish tradition, sitting at the feet was what a disciple did. Think of it as a VIP pass to learn from the master. And guess what? Mary was doing just that, soaking in every word from her rabbi, Jesus. Now, hold onto your hats because this is where it gets juicy. In a world where women were often sidelined, Mary was a disciple! Yes, you heard it right. A woman! This was not just a big deal but a scandalous and profound moment when Jesus accepted Mary as a legitimate disciple. It's no wonder women still find inspiration in Mary's story. Let me ask you a question, during Jesus ministry He obviously entertained conversations with many different people on His journey. The scriptures are a written and recorded conversation. When Jesus ascended into heaven, Acts. 1: 6-11 did He stop talking to people in whom He had a relationship with? Then how does He communicate with you and I?

I am the door and the sheep who enter because of who I am is safe to roam freely and find pasture. The thief “shepherd” has no other agenda but to steal, kill and he couldn’t care less if he 1lost some sheep. I have come with the sole purpose for you to have life in its most complete form. I am the good shepherd, the one who knows what is mine and they know me. My knowledge of the Father is anchored in his knowledge of me. Because I know my father’s heart I lay down my life for the sheep. He escaped the temptation to see himself or the lady reduced to a lesser identity. He knew who he was and what his mission was all about as the Messiah of mankind - by seeing himself he was able to see her in the same light. What he had to offer was not for sale.) He looked her in the eye and said, “If you could see the generosity of God’s grace gift, you would perceive who I am. (I am so much more than a Jewish man and you are so much more than a Samaritan woman.) So here I am asking you for a drink when you should be asking me and I would give you the water of life for free.
