Our first familiar story is shared by our friend Mary of Mary and Martha.
“Mary… sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said” (Luke 10:39, NIV).
Let's take a moment to appreciate Mary's bold move. She plonks herself down "at the Lord's feet and listened to what he was saying" (Luke 10:39). Now, this might seem like just another pose, but wait! In the Jewish tradition, sitting at the feet was what a disciple did. Think of it as a VIP pass to learn from the master. And guess what? Mary was doing just that, soaking in every word from her rabbi, Jesus.
Now, hold onto your hats because this is where it gets juicy. In a world where women were often sidelined, Mary was a disciple! Yes, you heard it right. A woman! This was not just a big deal but a scandalous and profound moment when Jesus accepted Mary as a legitimate disciple. It's no wonder women still find inspiration in Mary's story.
Let me ask you a question, during Jesus ministry He obviously entertained conversations with many different people on His journey. The scriptures are a written and recorded conversation.
When Jesus ascended into heaven, Acts. 1: 6-11 did He stop talking to people in whom He had a relationship with?

Most certainly do I say unto you that this is the vital transition from dead religion into the very life of the ages - embrace the Son’s word with the same persuasion as you would the Father’s and you will not know any judgment - the Son gives voice to the Father. Jesus said, "The gate warden lets him in and the sheep recognize his voice; he calls his sheep by name and leads them out. I am the door and the sheep who enter because of who I am is safe to roam freely and find pasture. The thief “shepherd” has no other agenda but to steal, kill and he couldn’t care less if he 1lost some sheep. I have come with the sole purpose for you to have life in its most complete form. I am the good shepherd, the one who knows what is mine and they know me. My knowledge of the Father is anchored in his knowledge of me. Because I know my father’s heart I lay down my life for the sheep. (John 10:3, 9-10, 14-15 par Mirror).

Debunking Lies

As humans, we tend to create beliefs and stories in our minds to make sense of the world around us. However, when it comes to our beliefs about God, it's important to separate fact from fiction. Here are some common lies we believe about God and the truth that debunks them.
Lie #1: God is a punishing God.
Truth: While the idea of punishment may be part of some religious traditions, it's not accurate to say that God is a punishing God. In fact, God nature is loving and compassionate, offering grace and forgiveness to all who seek it.

Lie #2: God only cares about us if we follow certain rules.
Truth: God's love is not conditional on our behavior. While certain religious traditions may have specific rules and customs, God's love is available to all, regardless of their actions.
Lie #3: God is distant and uninvolved in our lives.
Truth: Many people feel that God is distant and uninvolved in their lives, but this couldn't be further from the truth. God is present in all aspects of our lives, offering guidance, comfort, and support when we need it most.
Lie #4: God only favors one religion or group of people.
Truth: God's love is universal and inclusive. No one group or religion has a monopoly on God's love and grace. God welcomes all people into his loving embrace, regardless of their background or beliefs.
By debunking these common lies, we can develop a more accurate and meaningful understanding of God. Rather than being motivated by fear, guilt or shame, we can be inspired by God's love and compassion.

my best story yet...

THE WANING OF SUMMER AND WEARING YOUR FIRST SWEATER

MEET THE BLOGGER...

In our blog post and podcast episode, Hearing from God | Challenging Our Belief System; the history of this particular picture taken last summer on the peer of Richardson Park where we moored our sailboat for the summer, one of the best summers I can remember sharing with my husband Don. Why one of the best?
Because I purposed the conversations with God and prioritized spending time with my husband. Purposed? Saw the need, mulled the opportunity and then moved heaven and earth to make it happen.
I know this about God, that He treasures relationships. If He treasures them, then so should I. I brought that treasure to the forefront, made it a priority and knew God was in the details, with grace pushing hinderances out of the way.
Guess what? Already ready to repeat this portrait! Moorage money in the bank and God and I have been eyeing a little bit bigger boat, why? Because God is into family and our family is growing. "First Grand baby" What does the "female" kind of family desire? A little bit of privacy, potty and her own nook and cranny. Not fancy just well appointed. See, bigger boat!
