Today on my marketing cruise, I answered a question on LinkedIn with Kara Ronin. See original post  She asked: Do you take notes from the books you read? If so, how do you go about doing that? In her post #Evernote received a hashtag, which brought my participation to her door. 
I love Evernote and for 14 years of my 25+ a Journaling Life Evernote has hosted my journal across many devices.

As per the photo clipped above: Kara, thank you for asking; #evernote has faithfully earned my support for 14 years. As a writer/reader/creator, the modality we want our notes to accomplish is stuck between paper and digital. Evernote bridges those gaps for me successfully. 1. Clip/cut & paste ability 2. Offline use, a simple notebook option, 3. Search-ability: We tend to clip the same note-thought-answer, across the board from book to book, or at least I do, as I implement it into my practical use-ability. The search-ability in Evernote to find the words I described/tagged is the key over other apps. On a good day, my notes are well organized, on a challenging day, I am able to find the note I wrote on my napkin during dinner because Evernote can source the "dinner!" My favorite 5 tips to why Evernote receives my applause: 

1. Clip/cut and paste (no matter the device you leave the house with, note clipper is there to catch moments like using a butterfly net)
2. Offline use: take Evernote and your butterfly net with you everywhere. I use Evernote Note Taking capabilities to teach classes. Many a times the class venue is in a private home where wifi is weak. In Settings, Notebook, Offline Notebook, choose which notebook to download: carry your class notes on your device for access anywhere. 
3. Search ability: your highlights in life tend to "note-thought-answer" across the board. Meaning: within the particular season, you are actively searching for helps, answers and interests across every venue you scroll. Your brain naturally is similar to  algorithms. I like what I said in the article above. On a good day, my notes are well organized, on a challenging day, those same notes: I am able to find the random thought on a note I wrote on the napkin during dinner because Evernote can source the "dinner". Meaning: when we remember the atmosphere, location in which we experienced our Aah Moment, our memory has a high percentage at recalling the note you wrote on the napkin! The importance of a Journaling Life! 
4. Free or Paid accounts. Their free account is very generous and helps you transition from note taking to lifestyle. 
   
5. Note taking is a mandatory habit in any arena to help us recall. (Education, Business meeting, creativity and design) Where the "habit" has the highest benefit is in your personal development!
