A powerful message arrived in my inbox recently, a comment from a YouTube viewer that shook me to the core. "I asked one question to Jesus 30 years later, He never answered. God doesn't exist." The question, as he explained, was a request for a single, secret password—a word only he and God would know, to be revealed through a believer. A simple, undeniable sign to confirm the divine. Thirty years of silence, and a faith that was never given a chance to grow. It’s a testament to a deep-seated desire for proof, a longing that many of us can relate to. This pursuit, however, reveals more about our own hearts than it does about God. Does it stem from a desire to control the terms of our relationship with the divine, or from a truly broken heart searching for a lifeline? It takes more faith to believe that God doesn't exist than it does to believe that He does." —Kristen Wambach Episode Summary this thought-provoking episode of the Interviewing Jesus Podcast, ordained pastor Kristen Wambach tackles a challenging listener comment from a viewer who, for 30 years, has been waiting for a secret password from God as proof of His existence. Kristen shares her powerful, Spirit-led response and dives into biblical insights, exploring the ancient story of "Shibboleth" and contrasting it with the true, revealed passwords of praise, thanksgiving, and, ultimately, Jesus Christ. This conversation is a compassionate guide for those wrestling with doubt, highlighting that God's presence is not a hidden secret to be tested, but a person to be known in an ongoing, authentic relationship.
Faith is not about a test you pass, but about a relationship you enter." This idea of a spiritual password isn't new. The Bible itself offers a fascinating example in Judges 12:5-6, where the Gileadites used the word "Shibboleth" as a linguistic test. Their enemies, the Ephraimites, couldn't pronounce the "sh" sound, revealing their identity and leading to their demise. This ancient story shows how simple words can be a matter of life and death, a key that identifies one group and separates them from another. But God doesn't operate this way. He’s not waiting to test us and condemn us; His desire is for connection and transformation. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name." - Psalm 100:4 So, what are God's passwords? Psalms 104 and 89 provide a clue: "Enter into the password by saying thank you," and "blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise." These aren't hidden words but transformative actions. When we come to God with thanksgiving and praise, it changes our atmosphere, our frequency, and our awareness. His presence was always there, but our grateful hearts became the channel that allowed us to perceive it. This is a core lesson in connecting with God and applying biblical principles to our daily lives. The ultimate password, as the New Testament makes clear, is the name of Jesus. John 14:6 declares, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” He is the password, the key, and the access point to a relationship with God. Philippians 2:10-11 reminds us that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow. This isn’t a secret or an obstacle; it's an invitation. The true password is not a hidden word for a select few, but a name revealed for all. It’s the way we find purpose through faith, experience healing and transformation, and engage in authentic spiritual discussions. But a life of faith is a walk of Spirit-led living, where we learn to step forward without a full roadmap, simply because we hear an inner nudge. The truth is, God's presence is in the happenstances of our lives—in the sunrise, in a friend's kindness, in the very air we breathe. It takes more faith to believe God doesn't exist than to believe He does, for His creation is a constant, screaming testament to His existence. The conversation with the YouTube listener has come to a halt for now, but my final question to him remains: "Where in the history of the secret word isn't Jesus?" He is the password to every joy and every obstacle, the answer to every question, and He’s been waiting to be known, not to be tested. BINGE LISTEN
