Get ready to be stretched and inspired as we dive into a conversation with biblical insights, stories, encounters, and divine wisdom, bravely addressing what it truly means to live a life that says all death is an enemy, Jesus gave us the keys, and we are to live accordingly. Let's welcome Michael King. What if everything you thought you knew about death and dying was based on a misunderstanding? For too long, the Church has been taught a "heaven when you die" gospel, one that accepts death as a normal, natural part of the Christian life. But what if Jesus didn't just die to give us a ticket to heaven, but to give us life and immortality right here, right now? This is the transformative message at the heart of my conversation with Michael King on the Interviewing Jesus Podcast.
In this episode, I'm joined by Michael King, author of The Gospel of Life and Immortality, who presents a radical idea: that we, as believers, have become too comfortable with death. Michael challenges us to confront death as an enemy, just as Jesus did. He explains that the biblical call is not to simply accept decay but to actively reverse it, not just for ourselves but for all of creation. Drawing on scripture from Romans, John, and Hebrews, Michael and I discuss how our beliefs directly impact our reality and how living in alignment with Jesus's victory over death can transform every aspect of our lives. This conversation highlights the difference between a "heaven when you die" gospel and the "eternal life" Jesus offers here and now, which is a life that is "ever increasing in quality and ever increasing in length of life."

Connect with Michael C. KingMichael challenges us to see death not as a passage, but as a sworn enemy. He points to John 10:10, where Jesus contrasts the thief, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, with His own purpose: to give us life, and have it to the full. This isn't a vague promise for the afterlife; it's a daily spiritual wisdom for our faith journey podcast. It's about living a life so infused with God's goodness that there is no room for decay or destruction. The core of this revelation is found in the very fabric of our being. As Michael explains, the Bible explicitly states that "the last enemy to be destroyed is death." If death is the enemy, then we, as followers of Christ, are on the front lines of a spiritual war to reclaim life. The first step is to recognize how deeply we've agreed with death in our daily lives. From the "until death do us part" of wedding vows to the concept of a "bucket list" before we "kick the bucket," our language and mindsets are often in direct opposition to the transformational spiritual leader who is Jesus. Michael shares a radical example of this truth in action: praying over roadkill. While it may sound strange, it perfectly illustrates the principle that the power of the gospel is meant to bring life to all creation. As Romans 8 describes, all creation is groaning, waiting for the "sons and daughters of God to step into the fullness of manifestation" so that we can release it from its bondage to decay. Our redemption is the first fruit of this larger restoration. The power of this teaching lies in its simplicity and profound depth. Michael clarifies that the oft-quoted Hebrews 9:27--"it is appointed for man to die once"—is only a dependent clause. The full context shows that Jesus died for us, taking on the death we were meant to die, so that we don't have to. This revelation is a cornerstone of authentic spiritual discussions and biblically sound teaching. Ultimately, this is a call to align our beliefs with God's. We've been in a spiritual tug-of-war, receiving occasional infusions of life through prayer while our underlying beliefs about sickness, aging, and death remain unchanged. But what happens when we stop agreeing with death and fully embrace our role as Spirit-led enforcers of heaven's will on earth? This Christian personal development is about more than just healing in the moment; it's about a complete healing and transformation of our reality. When the life of God is more powerful in us than death, we won't just get healed—we will live in a state of divine wisdom and increasing vitality. Anxious??? Considering that Don and I are Sailors, I am not fond of heeling over from strong winds... (The term "heeling" is a normal part of sailing. "The force of the wind on the sails pushes the boat to the side, causing it ot lean. The boat's keel and ballast provide stability and prevent it from capsizing.")
Don and I used to race Hobie Cats in Southern California in our early days. I lost my thrill seeker edge after having children.
