I’m your host, ordained pastor Kristen Wambach, and today we are exploring a profound question: what would happen if you found a quiet place to encounter the fiery presence of God? What would you expect to happen? It's a question that challenges our logic and ego, but promises a deeper, more intimate connection with the divine. In this episode, we'll unwrap a practical framework called BLISS—a five-step acronym to guide us into tangible Conversations with Jesus. This is a crucial lesson in practical spirituality, showing us that our faith journey podcast can lead to a daily spiritual wisdom that transforms our lives. Are you ready to live a spiritually brave life? Let’s dive in.

Jesus Fills All things: Sitting in the BLISS fo God's Fiery Love Interviewing Jesus Podcast with Kristen Wambach
Every encounter with God is personal. It is painted to speak a language that you are familiar with and meant to draw you closer to your true identity in him." —Kristen Wambach
Episode Summary this episode of the Interviewing Jesus Podcast, Kristen Wambach presents a practical framework called B.L.I.S.S to help listeners encounter a tangible and holy God. The acronym, which stands for Blend in, Love, In God, Small steps, and Secluded portions, provides a step-by-step guide for intentional connection with the divine. Kristen shares a personal story of a dream and a waking encounter with the "fiery love" of God, leading to the powerful revelation that Jesus fills all things. The episode encourages listeners to live a spiritually brave life by taking small, consistent steps to build intimacy and perceive God's presence in their daily lives.
Encountering the Consuming Fire: A Practical Framework for Spiritual BlissHave you ever wondered how to move beyond an intellectual understanding of God to a genuine, tangible encounter? Our minds often get in the way, telling us that a mystical Christian podcast experience isn't for us. But today, we're challenging that narrative with a powerful framework to help you connect with God in a way that feels real and personal. The foundation of this episode is the acronym BLISS, a guide for creating sacred moments that lead to transformational spiritual growth.
Jesus Fills All things: Sitting in the BLISS fo God's Fiery Love Interviewing Jesus Podcast with Kristen Wambach
The first step, the B, is to Blend in. This isn’t about losing your identity, but intentionally merging with the presence of God and others. It’s a call to seek understanding with empathy and compassion, a core tenet of Spirit-led living. It’s about letting the fiery love of God compel you to see yourself, others, and God differently. This intentional connection is the bedrock of our faith journey podcast and a pathway to applying biblical principles in our daily lives.

The L stands for Love. The very essence of God is love, and it’s the bedrock of genuine connection. It's the assurance written in our very DNA, confirming that we are deeply and irrevocably loved. This love fuels our capacity for empathy and shores up our faith on the days we don't feel it. It’s this love that brings healing and transformation, making it a central theme of our podcast about talking to Jesus.

The I is for In God. To be "in God" is to be rooted in Him—our strength, wisdom, and very being. Just as a tree’s roots extend three times its height, our relationship with God reaches far beyond what we can perceive. Stepping into Jesus Christ as the door is how we access this deeper intimacy. This is where we learn to let His truth, grace, and mercy lead us into more of Himself. Our spirits have movement and being in Him, allowing us to be continually filled and led.

B.L.I.S.S

Deuteronomy 4:24 (KJV)1
"For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God."

Deuteronomy 9:3 (KJV)3
"Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them, as the LORD hath said unto thee."

Hebrews 12:29 (KJV)
"For our God is a consuming fire."

Exodus 24:17 (KJV)
"And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel."

Isaiah 33:14 (KJV)
"The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?"

1 Kings 18:38 (KJV)
"Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench."

2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 (KJV)
"And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:"

1 Corinthians 3:13 (KJV)
"Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is."
God's fiery love is not meant to intimidate us, but to ignite a fire within us." —Kristen Wambach

Next, the first S is for Small steps. Transformation isn't an overnight event; it's a series of consistent, incremental steps fueled by faith. It’s a process of spiritual awakening where we learn to turn on the light and, eventually, to simply be the light. Kristen Wambach podcast messages always emphasize this, encouraging you to build a personal library of experience with God. A simple but profound practice is to stand before a door in your home, check your spirit, and then step through, teaching your senses to perceive the tangible difference of His presence. This small step builds your spiritual muscles and prepares you for profound spiritual breakthroughs.

Finally, the last S is for Secluded portions. This is about intentionally creating a dedicated space and time for Conversations with Jesus. Whether it's a quiet room or a park bench, it's a sacred moment to be still, reflect on His living word, and listen for the whispers of the Holy Spirit. This is where the intimacy of God's fiery love is truly experienced, leading to the profound realization that God fills all things. This is the essence of a mystical Christian podcast—it’s not about magic, but about intentional, biblically sound teaching that leads to authentic encounters.
I can guarantee it that you will begin to perceive that there is something that is different between stepping from this room to that room. It's a great way to learn." —Kristen Wambach
The Characteristics of Mystical Bliss
  • Transcendence of Self: The core of mystical bliss is the dissolution of the ego. The sense of a separate "I" fades away, and the individual feels as though they have merged or become one with the divine. This isn't a loss of identity but a release from the limitations of the self.

  • Sense of Unity: In this state, a person experiences a deep, intuitive understanding of the interconnectedness of all things. The perceived separation between oneself, others, and the universe collapses, replaced by a feeling of profound harmony and oneness.
  • Timelessness: The experience often occurs outside of linear time. The past and future lose their meaning, and the individual exists entirely in an eternal, sacred present.
  • Ineffable and Paradoxical: Mystics from all traditions describe this state as being beyond words. It's a paradox—a feeling of absolute stillness and peace that is also a dynamic, all-consuming experience.
Thomas Merton (Trappist Monk and Author): "The true secret of Christian spiritual growth is not a technique but an encounter, a relationship of personal, self-forgetful love with Christ in a contemplative spirit."

History and Literature

Mystics from various traditions have left behind powerful writings and testimonies of a state of profound bliss, often experienced as a total union with the divine. This is a central theme in their spiritual journeys, a destination beyond intellectual belief and simple devotion.
Christian Mystics and Their Testimonies

In the Christian mystical tradition, bliss is not merely a feeling but the result of a soul’s complete surrender to God.
  • St. Teresa of Ávila: The 16th-century Carmelite nun wrote extensively about the stages of the spiritual life, culminating in what she called the "spiritual marriage." She described this state as a blissful union in which the soul is fully united with God. In her work, The Interior Castle, she writes about the final mansion: "It is as though the soul, in this last and highest state, becomes so completely absorbed in God that it does not even recognize itself. It seems as if its own being, its consciousness, and its very will are all melted into the Being of God."
  • St. John of the Cross:  A contemporary of St. Teresa, he focused on the difficult journey to divine union, famously known as "the dark night of the soul." The bliss he describes is the fruit of this painful purification. His poetry speaks of a secret ascent to God, where the soul finds its "beloved" and all suffering is transformed into ecstasy. His poem "The Dark Night" is a journey to this union, culminating in a state of tranquil, blissful love.
  • Meister Eckhart, the medieval German theologian and mystic, described a state of union in which the soul returns to its divine origin. He taught that there is a "spark of the soul" which is uncreated and can experience a state of oneness with God. He wrote, "The eye with which I see God is the same eye with which God sees me. My eye and God's eye are one and the same." This oneness is the source of all spiritual bliss.

Jesus Filling All Things

The key scriptures are:
  • Ephesians 1:22-23: "And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way."
  • Ephesians 4:10: "He who descended is the very same one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe." These verses describe Jesus's ultimate authority and presence. The meaning of "fills all things" is often interpreted in two main ways, which are not mutually exclusive:
  • Filling all creation: This refers to Jesus's cosmic authority. Having descended to earth and then ascended to the highest heavens, he is now in a position to exert his complete and sovereign rule over the entire universe.
  • Filling the church: This refers to Jesus's relationship with his body, the church. He is the "fullness" that completes and equips the church, providing it with everything it needs to carry out its mission. This filling is often understood as the presence of the Holy Spirit, which empowers believers and unites them with Christ.
In the end, this message of practical spirituality reminds us that encountering a tangible God is not just for a select few. It’s for everyone who is willing to be spiritually brave and take small, intentional steps. By practicing the BLISS framework, we can actively participate in bridging heaven and earth, allowing God’s consuming fire to ignite a passion for Him and a commitment to becoming who He created us to be.
