Sometimes pruning, healthy pruning, brings forth the fruit, the new life that we can feel bursting forward." —Kristen Wambach
Have you ever felt that nagging whisper of self-doubt, the inner critic trying to derail your progress or dim your light? In this deeply authentic episode of the Interviewing Jesus Podcast, ordained pastor Kristen Wambach transparently shares her own recent struggle with these very feelings, offering profound biblical insights and practical steps to move from self-criticism to Spirit-led living. This episode is a powerful testament to Christian spiritual growth and the unwavering presence of God in our everyday lives.
We want to remember the flow of who He is in our life and what He's taught us and shown us and how He's loved on us." —Kristen Wambach
Kristen begins by revealing her own journey of discernment, often planning episodes only to feel an internal resistance. This internal "tweak" led her to confront the root of her struggle: self-doubt, even when outwardly, everything seemed to be going well. It's a relatable scenario, showcasing that the battle against the inner critic isn't always tied to obvious mistakes or failures, but can emerge even in seasons of positive transition and growth.
Jesus reminds us of who we are. We are that wine that is served to the Father." —Kristen Wambach

Through a series of divinely inspired "highlights" from her morning in the garden, Kristen unpacks powerful metaphors for overcoming self-doubt:
  • The Old Watering Wand: This seemingly mundane incident reminds us not to forget the way Jesus has originally flowed through our lives. He is our friend, brother, Rabbi, and confidant, always there to understand and walk with us. Our pursuit of higher consciousness should never overshadow the intimate, personal relationship we have with Jesus.
  • The Pruned Japanese Maple: A shriveled tree that unexpectedly sprouts new growth after pruning becomes a beautiful symbol. Kristen emphasizes that healthy pruning brings forth new life and fruit, illustrating that sometimes, letting go of what's dead or not serving us can lead to incredible new beginnings and breakthroughs in our faith journey.
Kristen delves into how self-doubt can manifest as procrastination, perfectionism, overthinking, and fear of failure or success. She candidly shares her realization that her own self-doubt was tied to a season of transition, with many "positive irons in the fire" that she was releasing her faith over. This highlights a crucial insight: sometimes, the inner critic amplifies its voice precisely when we're on the cusp of significant healing and transformation or when we're finding purpose through faith.

Gateway of Three Infinite Changes Part 1

The episode culminates with a beautiful reflection on the Wedding at Cana (John 2), Jesus' first miracle. Kristen draws a profound parallel: just as Jesus transformed water into wine, He can transform our ordinary days and what's within our "jars of stone," filling them to the brim and pouring us out as a vintage served to Father God. This is the ultimate empowering faith message – that through Christ, we are precious, transformed, and presented to the Father as His beloved.

Kristen offers actionable steps to address self-doubt, encouraging listeners to acknowledge and observe their feelings, challenge their inner critics, focus on small wins, practice self-compassion, limit comparisons, and seek support from the Lord. This episode truly embodies practical spirituality, offering daily spiritual wisdom for anyone on a Christian personal development path. It's a powerful reminder that there is no condemnation in Christ, and we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Growth Day Ambassador Kristen Wambach
"This is why we seek personal growth—to be free from the pain we cause ourselves, to make better choices, to feel better about who we are becoming, to act more confidently in social situations, and to unleash our full creativity and contributions into the world in order to make our highest difference. Gaining Personal Freedom in this sense is letting go of any self-doubt and self-loathing and allowing ourselves permission to be our unique, powerful, authentic selves." - Brendon Burchard

You could easily say I am surrounded by testosterone! You think! That attribute has always helped me feel equal in Gods eyes. I grew up knowing that I was just as capable as my brothers but also learned the value of knowing when I needed there physical strength. As mentioned in The UnFinished Book, This was something I had to push there in the area of the "church" mindset. Not an easy task to bring forth this change.
