INTERVIEWING JESUS PODCAST TRANSCRIPT Episode: Shifting the Frequency of Fear with a "Gratitude Attack" Host: Kristen Wambach Guest: Wendy Bower [00:00.99] Kristen Wambach: Hello and welcome family. Welcome to Interviewing Jesus Podcast. I'm your host, Kristen Wambach. And can we just go off the cuff today? That's what's going to happen with my guest, Wendy Bower, a vibrant author. She's a storyteller who brings a refreshing, fun-loving wisdom to the journey of transformation. And we are totally about transformation. Amen. [00:29.32] Wendy Bower: Amen. Amen. [00:29.84] Kristen Wambach: Wendy has walked through the fire of cancer and deep personal loss discovering that gratitude isn't a forced attitude. It's a natural altitude that comes from simply being loved by God. A wonderful quote from her book that I just grabbed and wrapped it around me like a blanket: "Gratitude isn't about trying harder." [00:47.19] Wendy Bower: Yes. [00:57.14] Kristen Wambach: "It's about experiencing God's love so deeply that Thanksgiving becomes our natural response." She has a background in communication and a unique color love language with the Father. Wendy is here to help us break free from transactional faith. Maybe turn up your color dial today and step into an unforced rhythm of grace. Welcome to the show, Wendy. [01:28.29] Wendy Bower: I am just so delighted to be here, Kristen. I know that we are kindred spirits and the Christ in me connecting with the Christ in you is just exciting. It's exciting! [01:41.61] Kristen Wambach: It is, it is. And I threw a little pun in there with the color wheel because I am a neutral kind of gal here and I have on fuchsia today and my fuchsia turquoise earrings that my son and daughter-in-law gave me. They're actually from Arizona, which is where you're from. So welcome family, just sit back. We're gonna have a really wonderful Holy Spirit-filled, casual talk, and I know that you and I will be increased today. Wendy, you have a question in your heart about the color of His voice. And you mentioned that colors are a specific love language that you share with God. In the middle of your cancer treatments, when the world felt like grey, what specific color did Jesus use to speak hope into your heart? [02:49.47] Wendy Bower: Well, He was speaking through colors prior to that diagnosis in a time of just deep loss and disillusionment. I was being erased by some family members. My heart was so broken. And I was really struggling to connect with God. I just felt it's that moment where you're like, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" And one day I was driving—I teach piano—and I was just crying and pouring out my heart to God. I look over and there's on someone's lawn over two dozen purple irises. And it was like all of a sudden the tears... everything just neutralized. I realized that's my favorite color. It's my favorite flower. That is not a coincidence. God is so detailed. He is speaking all the time, but not always in words. This is where He connected me with, "I see you, Wendy. I know the details that give you joy." [04:45.57] Kristen Wambach: Mm-hmm. [05:01.75] Wendy Bower: Every time I saw the color purple, it was like confirmation bias that God is with me. And from there it just grew. Purple is my royal identity, which I stood on before my first chemotherapy treatment. I have a photo where I’m standing holding my scepter up in the air. He was like, "Wendy, this is you. You're going into the dark of night with this cancer treatment." In the spiritual realm, I held it up and I quoted 1 Peter—we are a royal priesthood. That identity was going to take me through a dark night of the soul. [07:02.09] Kristen Wambach: Thank you. [07:21.91] Wendy Bower: My body had an adverse reaction to chemotherapy. I ended up in the hospital for a whole week over Christmas during 2020. I was losing my hair, and one day I found a lavender wig. And it was like, "That's it." Because that's my favorite color. It was like, "Daddy, you're so fun that you would give me an opportunity as a grown woman to wear a purple wig and just spread joy." I had fun with my piano students then. I gave them a challenge; they would show up with different wigs or hats and we just ended up having so much fun. I was reminding myself every time I look in the mirror who I am and how much God loves me. [10:50.64] Wendy Bower: God doesn't use a cookie cutter with anything. [11:45.13] Kristen Wambach: I agree. You were talking and you described when you were at Disneyland and you said that you had your scepter there. Listeners, pay attention: what I saw in the spirit, I saw that your scepter had turned into a staircase to allow people to walk up your victory. Wendy, would you pray for us now? Would you open up that portal from your scepter, because there's listeners out there that today they need to feel seen by God. [12:34.42] Wendy Bower: I would be happy to. Father God, I thank you that you not only love, but absolutely cherish and delight in every one of your children. I pray for anyone listening right now that feels forgotten, that feels overlooked. Lord, I pray that you would open the eyes of their hearts to see you smiling so big. May they know in the depths of their soul that you value them highly. They are royalty. May the lies be destroyed and the truth be replaced that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. Amen. [14:43.40] Kristen Wambach: Amen. Breathe in and breathe out. Imagine breathing in that prayer. We breathe it in like it's a communion. And then when we breathe out, we release that which the prayer came in and took authority over. Anything that was usurped in our body leaves with your breath. Wendy, as someone with a background in communication, how did you "flip that switch" to teach yourself how to intuitively perceive God through the senses? [17:09.06] Wendy Bower: Well, I didn't teach myself—the Holy Spirit did it. I realized I had lived such a stressful life; my nervous system was wrecked. I needed to get in touch with how my body felt. I sensed Him telling me to go sit by the river. I’d be learning what rest feels like versus striving. I would touch the water and remember scripture: "His voice is like the rushing waters." He wasn't giving me three steps to feeling better; it was just, "This is more of who I am. Let's get to know each other." Now science is affirming what the Bible already says—singing and movement release serotonin. [23:18.15] Kristen Wambach: I agree. It starts in a place of imagination. If this tree could tell me its stories, what would it tell me? That childlike faith connects with creation. [24:07.86] Wendy Bower: A sanctified imagination is a gift that so few of us use. We're all up in our heads with Bible knowledge, but when life gets difficult, it’s an opportunity to get the connection between our heart and our head secure. Feeling loved by Him is just the most energizing, wonderful thing. [26:37.86] Kristen Wambach: Wendy, your book is called Gratitude Attack. Would you describe that spiritual altitude? How does it change the atmosphere when we are waiting for redemption? [27:43.85] Wendy Bower: The most transformative thing was realizing Ephesians—we are seated in the heavenly realms with Christ Jesus. Today. My spirit is seated with Jesus. When I was substitute teaching, I started practicing an awareness of this. I would walk into that room with my crown on because I'm a daughter of the King. I’m not going to be pulled into a frequency that is not of God. I am bringing heaven to the room. [33:27.03] Kristen Wambach: It makes you sit up straighter because you don't want the crown to fall off. There's weight in who we are. Now, Wendy, you’ve experienced being erased by family. That is a profound soul pain. How did Jesus meet you in that void? [35:48.96] Wendy Bower: Being erased is worse than cancer to me. It feels like deep rejection. My go-to question for years was "Why, God?" One day I asked God if He had a nickname for me. Right away I heard "Wise Girl" instead of "Why Girl." He calls us what He created us to be, not what we are today. Wisdom is not getting the question answered; it’s asking for the Father to give you wisdom on how to walk through it. I don’t have an ounce of bitterness now. Bitterness is a state of mind disconnected from God. [45:23.88] Kristen Wambach: You have a quote: "I fan the flame and I have no doubt God is delighted when gratitude is set ablaze." How do you fan that flame? [46:12.77] Wendy Bower: I become more present with whatever is bringing in that gratitude. I tune into the details. If I see a sunset, I don't just say "that's nice." I stand there and take it in. It's a fanning of the flame. [50:41.97] Kristen Wambach: When we speak it out loud, we surround ourselves with that frequency. [51:28.45] Wendy Bower: Yes! After my cancer treatment, I was depleted. I rebuilt by speaking six pages of declarations every day. I had to speak that I was an overcomer, not a survivor. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me. That is not a body cancer is going to return to. [54:42.81] Kristen Wambach: There is the moment. Right there. Wendy, where can our listeners find you and your book? [55:27.91] Wendy Bower: Go to my website, authorwendybower.com. You can find links to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and free resources on hearing the voice of God. It's very colorful! [58:49.76] Kristen Wambach: I love it. I want to share with the listeners, in the blog post will be the transcript. Wendy, thank you so much for sharing yourself with us in such a practical application. [01:01.06] Wendy Bower: It's all been my honor. I feel like I have a friend that I just made. This has just been so delightful. [01:01.38] Kristen Wambach: Yes. Thank you so much for spending this time with us today. The most supernatural thing you can do today is simply enjoy being loved." SCAN TO LISTEN ON MOBILE DEVICE Connect with Wendy BowerBeyond the TransactionMost of us have been conditioned to relate to God through transactions: If I do this, He will do that. This mindset keeps us grounded in a frequency of fear and performance. Wendy Bower’s journey through a year of chemotherapy and profound relational loss reveals a different way. She discovered that by focusing on the "unforced rhythms of grace," we can ascend to a spiritual altitude where fear no longer has permission to dictate our reality. The Payoff: Transformation in the MundaneThe transformation doesn't happen in a vacuum. It happens when we turn up the "color dial" of our lives. Whether it is through a purple wig that represents royal identity or fanning the flame of beauty in a sunset, we are invited to move into a "Payoff-First" logic. By the end of this episode, you will have the tools to stop striving and start seated—recognizing that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is actively rewriting your DNA today. COACHING CHURCH ACTIVATIONS
2. The Question: Ask Jesus, "Lord, what is the 'color' of Your heart toward me in this moment?" 3. The Connection: If a color comes to mind (even if you aren't wearing it), research its biblical or personal significance to you. Let that color be a "tether" to His presence for the next 24 hours. PART 2: THE "WISE GIRL/BOY" EXCHANGEWendy moved from being the "Why Girl" to the "Wise Girl." Fear often keeps us stuck in the "Why" (Why did this happen? Why me? Why now?).
PART 3: THE SCEPTER ALIGNMENTThe crown and scepter are not just metaphors; they are your spiritual DNA. When you feel the atmosphere of a room (or your own mind) shifting toward fear, use this physical activation:
PRAYER OF ACTIVATIONFather, I thank You that the person reading this is not a survivor of their circumstances, but an overcomer by Your Spirit. I pray that as they breathe in, they would inhale the reality of being seen, known, and cherished. Let the "unforced rhythms of grace" replace the heavy yoke of performance today. May their gratitude become an attack against every lie of the enemy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
