the Secret PASSWORD in God Interviewing Jesus Podcast
A Journey Rooted in Resilience
Gail’s story begins in Southeast Texas, or as she fondly calls it, "the right side of Texas." Growing up in simpler times, she reminisced about writing in Indian tablets with manila-colored pages and sharpening pencils in wall-mounted sharpeners—nostalgic markers of a world far removed from today’s tech-driven education. But beyond these anecdotes lies a life marked by pivotal challenges and transformative decisions.
As a Navy wife turned single mother of three, Gail faced the daunting reality of rebuilding her life post-divorce. Her defining moment? Deciding to pursue a master's degree at the University of Texas during the summers while raising her children. "One baby step at a time with blessings from above," she recalled. The courage to take that first step—sitting for the GRE, arranging childcare, securing housing—set the foundation for a future filled with purpose and confidence.
One baby step at a time with blessings from above—it was really a story to tell how that worked out." – Gail Showalter
❤️ The Power of Asking for Help
Gail’s wisdom shines through her emphasis on the importance of community support. She candidly shared moments when reaching out for help transformed her struggles. Whether it was a church community stepping in to move her belongings or friends rallying to assist with home maintenance, Gail’s experiences underscore a vital lesson: "It’s okay to ask for help."
For many single mothers, pride or fear of judgment can become barriers. Gail urges them to break free from these constraints, reminding us that vulnerability often invites unexpected blessings. "You don’t need to be in a pity party or play the victim, but you do need help," she advises.
✅ Autopsying Past Relationships
One of the most profound takeaways from Gail’s conversation was her advice on healing from relationship struggles. She advocates for what she calls a "complete autopsy" of past relationships—not to dwell in regret but to understand, grow, and set healthier boundaries moving forward.
"Don’t jump into a new relationship just because you’re lonely," she warns. Instead, Gail encourages self-reflection, counseling, and spiritual guidance. She differentiates between counseling and spiritual direction, the former focusing on practical guidance, while the latter helps discern what God is doing in one’s life.
Do a complete autopsy on the previous relationship—reflect, learn, and grow before moving forward." – Gail Showalter

Faith as a Cornerstone
Gail’s faith journey is deeply interwoven with her life story. She spoke passionately about the moments when prayer became her lifeline. Amidst the uncertainty of job transitions, financial strain, and personal doubts, her steadfast prayer was simple yet profound: "God, I must be where You want me. Please get me through another day."

This unwavering trust led to miraculous opportunities, like being recruited to teach Braille—a job that not only provided financial stability but also deep personal fulfillment. Teaching a blind five-year-old to read became one of her most cherished accomplishments, born from faith and perseverance.

Practical Wisdom for Single Moms
Gail’s guidance isn’t limited to spiritual advice; she’s a strong advocate for practical tools:
  1. Calendars and Budgets: She stresses the importance of organization, from meal planning to financial management. "If there’s not enough money at the end of the month, something’s got to give," Gail states bluntly, emphasizing the value of living within one’s means.
  2. Educational Opportunities: Encouraging single mothers to pursue education, Gail highlights online learning as a flexible option. She also recommends seeking grants like those from PEO International, which provide financial aid to women returning to school after a break.
  3. Setting Goals: "Don’t just think this is impossible," she says. Setting both short-term and long-term goals helps maintain focus and motivation.

Be willing to step out in faith and be bold. Don’t be foolish, but don’t let fear hold you back." – Gail Showalter
Challenging Misconceptions
Gail confronts the stigma often attached to single motherhood. "People make assumptions they shouldn’t about how a woman became a single mom," she laments. Her work aims to dismantle these stereotypes, celebrating the resilience and strength of single mothers.

She holds a special reverence for Black single mothers, recognizing the unique societal challenges they face and applauding their unwavering strength. "They carry a load that none of us can imagine," she acknowledges.
Living, Learning, Loving
Gail’s upcoming book, “Living, Learning, Loving,” set to release on September 9th, encapsulates her life’s wisdom. It delves into themes of solitude, courage, and resilience, offering readers both practical advice and spiritual encouragement. Each chapter ends with reflective questions, making it a perfect companion for personal growth or group studies.

Kristen and Gail’s conversation concluded with a heartfelt prayer, a touching reminder of the power of faith and community. Gail’s parting words resonate deeply: "Yes, you can."
God’s not our puppet. We are called to surrender our will over to His, and there’s profound peace in that." – Gail Showalter

I answered this question yesterday on a podcast: and I do believe he would be surprised to hear me say this, but my husband Don. When we married I wasn't exactly asking Jesus for His opinions in my life. My husband has survived my "awakening" so to speak. Faithfully walking along side me, allowing me to discover who I am and who God is to us. I am forever grateful to him for loving me THIS MUCH! Guess God knew what He was doing when I moved next door to him in San Diego.

P.S. I’ll be honest with you—I’m a "Hardback" kind of gal. There is something about diving deep and writing all over the pages, capturing the thoughts and conversations I hear from the Lord in real-time. While the ePub is convenient, it limits your ability to use this as a truly responsive Playbook.

Between you and me, the royalties on a printed book are much smaller, but the impact is so much greater. I want you to have the version that lets you "suit up" and engage. If you want to mark it up, wear it out, and make it yours—go for the Hardback.💋

BEYOND THE THRESHOLD
x
I believe that the gap between Heaven and Earth is not a distance to be traveled, but a threshold to be crossed. My faith isn’t found in "stale bread" religion, but in a face-to-face, relational reality with a God who is better than our current bandwidth can imagine.
The Pillars of Our Experience:
  • The Restoration of All Things: I believe no story is too broken for the goodness of God. From the depths of the "Field of Blood" to the heights of the celestial courts, His heart is set on our complete wholeness.
  • The Safety of Belonging: For the Servant heart and the Mercy soul, I believe the Father is building a "Sure House"—a place where your unique design is celebrated, and your presence is essential to the family of God.
  • Redemptive DNA: I believe every person carries a God-inspired signature. By uncovering our Redemptive Gifts, we move from the "poverty of striving" into the wealthy identity of an heir.
  • Relational Discernment: I believe in a "Rhema" connection—a living, breathing conversation with Jesus that provides the supernatural wisdom to navigate our actual, messy lives.
I believe in the "Dangerous Hope" that shires up the GATES of our lives, ensuring that neither height nor depth can separate us from the love that first called us Spiritually BRAVE.
