THE MASTERPIECE IN THE MIRRORReclaiming Your Worth: The End of "Not Good Enough" I realized I was rejecting the truth of what God created. I reflect His beauty, His passions, and His character." — Sue Corl
Together, Kristen and Sue dive deep into a Mirror Reflection of Psalm 139, investigating the original Hebrew architecture of our design. They shatter the universal lie of "not good enough" and replace it with a "Beyond" posture of awe and intentionality. In this episode, you will discover:
The shackles of your past are the raw materials for the crown He is placing on your head today." — Sue Corl The Mirror of AweWe often carry our past wounds like a heavy suitcase, convinced that our broken pieces have disqualified us from a beautiful future. We look at our "scars"—whether they are physical, emotional, or the result of years of verbal labels—and we assume God must have been distracted when He formed us. In Episode 281, I sat down with my friend Sue Corl, a spiritual investigative journalist who spent 25 years in Asia helping women shatter these exact lies. Sue’s own story began with 26 major surgeries and a childhood spent in the shadows of rejection. But her transformation didn't come from "trying harder"; it came from a radical re-education of her heart. SUMMARYIn this powerful episode of the Interviewing Jesus Podcast, Kristen Wambach sits down with Sue Corl, founder of Crown of Beauty International, for a deep-dive investigation into the architecture of our identity. Sue, who survived 26 major surgeries following a severe birth defect, shares how she transitioned from a childhood of verbal wounds and rejection to a "Beyond" posture of global leadership and healing. The Outcome for Your WeekThis isn't just a feel-good conversation. It’s a practical path for anyone standing in the gap between a painful reality and a heavenly promise. If you’ve been living in the "shackles" of your past, this episode is your invitation to trade those ashes for a crown of beauty. Trauma healing brings a closeness with the Lord that is unmatchable to any other time in your life." — Sue Corl LISTEN TO THE AUDIO VERSION

📝 EPISODE TRANSCRIPT EXCERPT Kristen Wambach (00:01): Hello and welcome. Joining us today is a woman whose life is a living testimony to the fact that God does not make mistakes. Sue Corl is a spiritual investigative journalist just like me. She just loves to find out more about Jesus. Sue has navigated the deep waters of rejection and physical trauma to find a "beyond" posture of healing. Today, as the founder of Crown of Beauty International, she helps women across the globe shatter the lies of the enemy and walk in their true identity as daughters of the King. Welcome, Sue. Sue Corl (01:17): Thank you. Wow, that's a big intro! You guys should tape that and share it with my family. Kristen Wambach (02:19): I’ve rewritten portions of Psalm 139 to highlight our questions today... "Jesus, You have searched the very depths of me. You aren't just aware of my name; You are intimately acquainted with my DNA." So Sue, when we are standing in the gap between a painful reality and Heaven’s promise, how do we begin to see our scars as part of the design rather than a flaw in the manufacturing? Sue Corl (03:11): Well, for me, it was really coming to trust God's Word over my feelings and my experiences. For years, Kristen, I would not look in a mirror. I felt that God was very busy at the moment He was supposed to form my nose—that He took His eye off and voila, I have this birth defect. I realized in my 30s that I didn't actually believe Psalm 139. I had to dig into the Hebrew. I discovered that "fearfully" meant awe. It means when He created us, He created us in a way that we reflect His image. Kristen Wambach (10:35): It's a wonderful story. We're made from His awe. When He made us, He goes, "Ah, look at My child." Sue Corl (32:20): The most universal ache I see in women everywhere is that they don't feel they have worth. In Africa, Asia, the Middle East—women are often treated as "less than." When they hear the four truths—that they are Beautiful, Forgiven, Valued, and Loved—they light up. They’ve never been told that Jesus is captivated by them. Kristen Wambach (48:00): Sue, before we end today, would you reach out in the spirit with that big heart you have and pray for those listening? Sue Corl (48:23): I’d love to. Wonderful Lord, I pray for every person listening, that You will lead them out of the muck and into abundance. Restore, renew, and refresh them to be able to live out the full potential for which You have created them. In Jesus' name, Amen. CORE TRANSFORMATION: THE FOUR PILLARSSue shares the "universal ache" she has witnessed in women across the globe—from the jungles of Thailand to the villages of Bangladesh—and the four truths Jesus uses to answer it:
CONNECT WITH SUE CORLSue Corl was born with a severe cleft palate, without a nose, upper lip, or palate. During the first 15 years of her life, Sue underwent 26 major operations. As a child, she heard lies about her physical appearance and struggled emotionally with her self-worth. In her late twenties, she began the journey of emotional healing as she opened God’s Word and discovered the truths of who she is: fearfully and wonderfully made and an image bearer of God. Her personal story inspired her to begin Crown of Beauty International to help women around the world to experience the same freedom from lies, shame, and strongholds that God provided for her. Sue is an international women’s conference speaker, author, mentor, and Bible teacher, and served 25 years as a missionary in Asia. Her greatest joy is being a wife and mother of two adult children. She has a passion to see women set free by receiving the love of God and living out their potential in the powerful truth of who they are in Christ. Celebrating with Crown of Beauty InternationalTHE OUTCOMEThe episode concludes with a practical path for Reclaiming Your Worth. Sue encourages the "family" to stop avoiding their reflection and to begin inviting Jesus into the "inner room" of their past trauma. The payoff is a shift from the shackles of "not good enough" into a life of purpose, authenticity, and spiritual bravery. FINAL SUMMARYIn Episode 281, Kristen Wambach and global ministry leader Sue Corl engage in a profound spiritual investigation into the architecture of human worth, specifically targeting the universal lie of being "not good enough." Drawing from Sue’s powerful testimony of surviving twenty-six surgeries and overcoming a childhood defined by rejection, the conversation centers on a "Mirror Reflection" of Psalm 139 to prove that our lives contain no manufacturing errors. They bridge the gap between painful earthly realities and heavenly promises by re-educating the heart on what it truly means to be "fearfully made"—a term rooted in the Hebrew concept of inspiring awe. By deconstructing the "masterpiece logic" of Ephesians 2:10, Kristen and Sue offer a practical path for the "family" to move from the shackles of trauma into a "Beyond" posture of healing, ultimately identifying the four pillars of a transformed identity: being Beautiful, Forgiven, Valued, and Loved. This episode serves as a strategic architectural reset, empowering every listener to trade the shame of their past for the crown of beauty that was prepared for them before they were ever born. Coaching Church ActivationsThe Blueprint Audit Sue revealed that we often believe God was "distracted" during our creation, labeling our struggles as manufacturing errors. To bridge the gap between that painful lie and Heaven’s promise, you must conduct a spiritual investigation of your own design. The Tape: Identify one specific part of your story or your physical self that you have labeled a "mistake." The Anchor: Open your Bible to Psalm 139. Speak this "Beyond" posture out loud: "Jesus, I thank You that You were not distracted. You were intimately acquainted with my DNA then, and You are hemming me in now. This part of me is not a flaw; it is a masterpiece of Your spiritual architecture." The Outcome: Notice when the "not good enough" lie surfaces this week. Replace it immediately with the word AWE to remind yourself that you are fearfully made.
