A few weeks ago, I embarked on a journey, a voyage that led me to this very episode. Aren't we just filled with gratitude for the gift of discernment granted to us by the Lord? Where does rejection start?
Rejection is the feeling of being refused or not accepted, and it can come from many sources:

• Physical contact: Such as being turned down for a hug or kiss
• Words: Such as "no" or "go away"
• Familial: Such as abuse, abandonment, neglect, or withholding love and affection
• Social: Such as bullying, alienation, or rejection from a social group
• Romantic: Such as a breakup or rejection from a romantic partner

Rejection can also be caused by other factors, such as:

• The person who rejected you may be having a difficult time
• They may have interpreted the situation differently than you
• You may want different things
• Childhood experiences, such as critical parents or bullying
• Biological factors and genetics 

Rejection can be painful, and neural evidence suggests that it can activate brain regions similar to those associated with physical pain. This may help explain why people report feeling "hurt" when rejected.
